Local Journalist meet with SLU Students

Two local journalists visit a news writing class at Saint Louis University to answer students’ questions and provide insight into the journalism world. Lauren Trager of KMOV and Sarah Fentem of KWMU took turns answering the students’ questions. Each reporter discussed several topics including her personal struggles and opinions of the journalism world. One question posed was how these journalists felt about the lack of trust society has with media and news reporters. Trager responded by saying, “It is, it is really sad to see people really attacking the media because sometimes you know in my low moments I tell myself that the press is the only profession mentioned in the constitution and we play a pivotal role in a free democracy where people are informed.”
The nearly hour-long visit allowed students plenty of time to ask Trager and Fentem questions. Each guest left her business card giving the students another opportunity to reach out.
